Developmental/Structural Editing
A developmental edit is an intensive review consisting of feedback and suggestions to improve the overall manuscript.
During a developmental edit, I will make suggestions and comments throughout your most recent document and provide you with detailed written feedback on various aspects of the manuscript and their effectiveness according to genre expectations and in keeping with your goals.
I will also create a style sheet.
I will offer honest and direct yet supportive, clear, and detailed feedback and guidance about
- structure and organization;
- plot and story;
- scene development;
- character arc/motivation;
- theme;
- consistency, clarity, voice, and style;
- recurring issues with grammar, punctuation, and syntax.
Software: Microsoft Word—In Track Changes, I will add comments in the margins and suggest changes in line.
