Manuscript Evaluation
A manuscript evaluation is a professional review of the manuscript that aims to provide an action plan for revision, highlighting strengths and weaknesses, with the goal of helping you prepare your work for publication.
The evaluation is an overview rather than a comprehensive edit. With an evaluation, my aim is to provide you with a written report detailing my impressions in terms of genre expectations, development, organization, scope, pacing, scene, character, consistency, and style.
The evaluation will include honest feedback about
- what is and isn’t working
- what seems to be unbalanced or missing
- areas in need of development, rewriting, or revision
- genre-specific impressions ans guidance
- next steps
The evaluation is not intended to offer
- in-line corrections or specific edits regarding grammar, usage, or punctuation
- an in-depth analysis or edit of the manuscript
